SEE THE OPPORTUNITIES!
As upsetting as being in an economic crisis is, it is going to end. And it will bring major changes to all our lives as we adjust to price hikes and live a new money-conscious style of life. The change is beginning to come too. Businesses are innovating. They’re developing new strategies, reinventing themselves so that they can thrive in business. And in doing so, help those that depend upon them – and not the least of all, their staff. But what about you personally? Do you see the opportunity for change? Can you survive this economic crisis that we’re going through?
I’m here to tell you, YES, you can!
Some of the wealthiest men in the world, like Jeff Bezos from Amazon and Bill Gates from Microsoft, listed their companies just before major global financial crashes and survived; Microsoft just before the 1986 crash and Amazon scrapped thorough the 2001 Dotcom bust.
What got them through each of these global financial depressions wasn’t having bags of money. It was because they had a vision of the future they wanted.
Now is the time for you to create your vision and see the opportunity to change. For the past five weeks, you’ve had to adapt to a new way of life and have enjoyed the opportunity to rediscover the importance of the home and the heart.
Now is the time to reinvent yourself and change the way you do things so that your future will be bright and full of success.
Winston Churchill famously said, “Never Waste a Good Crisis.” And this crisis gives you the perfect opportunity to reset your thinking. An opportunity to think about your future in a new and excitingly different way.
Examine your life from every angle.
What is great about it, what isn’t, what do you want to be doing, what’s your money plan for the future? And then get to work on doing it.
Use this time to change your approach. If you were rubbish with money in the past, don’t bury your head in the sand and do nothing. You will need to plan. Hope is not a strategy.
Here’s a simple way for you to build the bones of a plan to move you forward. Create a Self-care circle.
The circle is made up of things that are important to you in your life. These could be, nutrition, exercise, stress, sleep, financial, connection to others, connection to yourself, and so on. The important thing to notice is that you are at the centre of it.
The thing is, every one of these items on your self-care circle, are all interconnected. This means that there are flow-on effects for others in the circle when you are actively enhance (or destroy) a particular one, for example, exercising will have beneficial flow on to the quality of your sleep and your stress levels.
Your Financial self-care is a prime example.
If you had your financial self-care sorted, what other areas of your life in your circle could benefit?
Let’s look at some of those potential benefits: you probably won’t be as stressed, more motivation to get out there, it does wonders for your self-esteem , better communication with your friends and family, maybe even a change in career you’ve been putting off. All because you took control of your finances.
Think about one thing that you’ve changed in the last five weeks in lockdown, how has it impacted positively on your view of the world? What would happen to you if you took control and started to invest more of your time, effort and energy in your financial self-care.
Now that those home chores are out of the way, resist the temptation to binge watch Netflix and right now, use this time to focus and create your own vision of the future. Be brutally honest about the short term and optimistic and confident about the long term. Share your vision with your partner, both become accountable and responsible for that vision.
See the opportunity to reset your thinking and change your life. You both have a fantastic opportunity to develop a vision where you create financial freedom and build a happy and successful life, together.
